A globally reknown testing and certification house asked StepChange Innovations GmbH for support to establish a manufacturing restricted substance list (M-RSL) for the the footwear and apparel industry. Further, sampling and analysis of hazardous chemicals in effluent streams was a challenge. We examined various chemical substance classes and outlined options how to improve existing procedures in the manufacturing of footwear and apparel, with regard to the ultimate target Detox 2020.
